About us

The late John Bigglestone had been involved in photography for almost all his life as a practicing photographer as well as an educator and writer. He was an inspiration to many of his students and anyone who was lucky enough to know him. In later years John hung up his 'commercial' hat concentrating more on fine art - especially infrared landscape and studio portraiture .Susie and John often worked collaboratively, assisting for each other and combining their individual strengths. Susie’s career has evolved from equestrian sport, journalism, animal portraiture through still life and camera-less abstract. Being mostly interested in organic subjects, recent work addresses her concern that the family farm as we know it is in serious decline. On the one hand she aims to document what might form a historical view of British farming before such farms are subsumed into large, automated enterprises, on the other she wants to portray the passion farmers have for what they do, for their livestock, their role in the rural community, and most of all their struggle to find ways to survive the economic, political and cultural hurdles they must overcome.
